Privacy policy

Norynt is operated by Deep Sea River AB, Stockholm, Sweden. Deep Sea River AB is the data controller for the limited processing described here.

When you start a speed test, your browser connects directly to a server operated by Measurement Lab (M-Lab). M-Lab receives your public IP address, the time of the test and detailed per-connection network statistics.

M-Lab publishes this measurement data as an open public dataset. That is the point of the platform: the numbers are independently verifiable. We cannot delete or recall data once it has been submitted to M-Lab.

M-Lab is an independent controller for that data. Read the M-Lab privacy policy before you test. If you would rather not have a test published, do not start one — the rest of the site works without it.

Norynt measures responsiveness with short timed requests between your browser and this site. Like any web request, these reach our hosting provider with your IP address, so the response can be sent back to you.

We use that only to deliver the page and to protect the service from abuse, such as rate-limiting floods of requests. We do not build profiles, do not link requests to a person, and keep no measurement database.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating and securing the website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Your test results themselves are calculated in your browser and never sent to us.

A few technical values are kept in your browser's local storage: the context choices you make about your household and activities, and an active verification session if you start one.

These stay on your device, contain no name, email or account, and are never sent to us. Verification sessions expire automatically after seven days, and clearing site data in your browser removes everything immediately.

Norynt sets no cookies of its own — no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, no tracking. Every category is explained in the cookie policy.

We run no analytics product. There is no Google Analytics, no pixel and no third-party tag on this site. We genuinely do not know how many pages you read.

Norynt currently shows no advertising. If we introduce it, we will update this page and the cookie policy first, name the advertising provider, label ads clearly, and ask for your consent before any advertising cookie or tracker is set. Advertising will never affect what an article or a result says.

Our hosting provider serves the site and processes request data, including IP addresses, on our behalf as a processor.

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google to fetch the font files and Google receives your IP address as part of that request.

We keep no test results and no user database. Server and security logs held by our hosting provider are short-lived and used only for operations and abuse prevention. Data you keep in local storage lasts until it expires or you clear it.

Norynt is a general-audience information site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Email us and we will respond within 30 days.

In practice we hold almost nothing that identifies you, so the most useful requests are usually about M-Lab's published data — for those, contact M-Lab directly. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

If our processing changes, we update this page and the date at the top. Material changes — such as adding advertising or analytics — will be described here before they take effect.
