About Norynt

Most speed tests hand you three numbers and stop there. That leaves the real question unanswered: why does the video call freeze, why does the game lag, why does the evening feel slower than the morning?

We built Norynt because the number is the easy part. The useful part is knowing what the number means for the things you actually do, and what you can change.

Download and upload speed are measured with Measurement Lab's open NDT7 test, using M-Lab's official client against a nearby M-Lab server. It is a real transfer over your real connection — nothing is simulated or estimated.

Responsiveness is measured separately by Norynt: short timed requests give us idle latency, jitter, and latency while the line is busy. Some things a web browser simply cannot see, such as true packet loss, and we say so instead of guessing.

We measure behaviour under load, not just top speed. A connection that looks fast and falls apart the moment someone uploads a file is a connection with a problem, and that problem is invisible to a speed-only test.

We also write our own explanations. Articles are meant to answer your question on the page, not send you off to a forum thread.

We never adjust, smooth or flatter a measurement. If a result is incomplete or the conditions were poor, we lower our confidence and tell you, rather than showing a clean-looking number we do not trust.

When Norynt suggests a likely cause, it is labelled as a hypothesis and ranked by the evidence behind it. A guess is never presented as a fact.

Norynt is independent. No internet provider, router maker or VPN company pays for a recommendation, a ranking or a mention, and no result changes based on who your provider is.

We use Measurement Lab because its infrastructure and data are open and publicly verifiable — anyone can check the platform our numbers come from.

Norynt is operated by Deep Sea River AB, Stockholm, Sweden. The site is funded by its operator. If advertising is introduced later, it will be labelled and kept separate from editorial content.
